24×7 Water Supply Project in Manimajra Completes Physical Infrastructure and Testing Phase

Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai Responds to MP Manish Tewari’s Questions

Chandigarh: In response to questions raised by MP Manish Tewari in the Lok Sabha regarding the status of the 24×7 water supply project in Manimajra, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai stated that the project’s physical infrastructure and testing phase have been completed.

He further informed that a consumer grievance cell and a helpline number have been set up under this project to address complaints efficiently.

No Loan Taken for the Project

Manish Tewari also inquired about the financial aspects of the project. In response, Nityanand Rai clarified that the project has been funded under the Smart City Mission, and no loan has been taken for it.

Concerns Over Delays and Water Supply Issues

MP Manish Tewari questioned the government on whether the project is still in the testing phase, and if so, what are the reasons for the delay in ensuring 24×7 water supply in the region. He also raised concerns regarding irregular water supply, dirty water, and issues related to drinking water quality, seeking details on the measures being taken to resolve these problems.

Details of Municipal Corporation’s Revenue and Expenditure Sought

The MP also requested a year-wise breakdown of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation’s revenue and expenditure for the past five years, which was provided as follows:
