Lord Mahavir’s Message for All of Humanity – Satya Pal Jain
The Voice of Chandigarh
Satya Pal Jain former BJP MP from Chandigarh and Additional Solicitor General of India stated that the principles propounded by Lord Mahavir including world peace, “Live and Let Live,” non-possession (Aparigraha), mutual tolerance, and compassion extending even to trees, birds, and animals remain just as relevant today as they were thousands of years ago.
Mr. Jain was speaking as the Chief Guest at a ceremony organized at the Jain Sthanak in Sector 18-D to mark the occasion of Lord Mahavir Jayanti.
Mr. Jain observed that, in reality, the messages of all great persons and spiritual leaders including Lord Mahavir were intended for the entirety of humanity; yet, due to our narrow mindsets and personal self-interests, we have compartmentalized even our great leaders into various religions, sects, and castes.
Mr. Jain further remarked that today, the entire world is saturated with increasingly destructive nuclear weaponry, and a single act of madness by a dictator could jeopardize the very existence of the entire globe. In such a scenario, humanity can be saved from this catastrophic destruction only by adhering to Lord Mahavir’s principles of world peace and “Live and Let Live.”
Mr. Jain concluded by stating that Jainism expects everyone to not only faithfully practice their own religion but also to accord equal respect to all other religions.
