Chandigarh Administration Appoints Sanjay Arora as Chief Engineer of Municipal Corporation

The Chandigarh Administration has appointed Sanjay Arora, currently serving as Superintending Engineer in Construction Circle-I, as the Chief Engineer of the Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh on a deputation basis.
The appointment has been made under Section 71(1) of the Punjab Municipal Corporation Act, 1976, as applicable to the Union Territory of Chandigarh. According to the official order, Arora will assume charge for an initial period of one year, or until his services are required by the Municipal Corporation, whichever is earlier. The appointment will come into effect from April 1, 2026.
The deputation will be governed by the standard terms and conditions applicable to such postings within the Chandigarh Administration.
Meanwhile, the additional charge of Chief Engineer currently held by C.B. Ojha, Chief Engineer, UT Chandigarh, will be withdrawn with effect from April 1, 2026.
The order was issued by Mandip Singh Brar, IAS, Secretary (Local Government & Urban Development), Chandigarh Administration.
The decision is expected to strengthen the functioning of the Municipal Corporation and improve the execution of urban development and infrastructure projects in the city.
