Under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav a campaign called UTRC@75 has been launched by National Legal Services Authority

Under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav a campaign called UTRC@75 has been launched by National Legal Services Authority. The campaign is also being run in UT Chandigarh.

The purpose of the campaign is to ensure that applications for the release of all eligible Undertrial Prisoners are filed before the court concerned so that release of undertrial prisoners be ensured. The campaign has been running in UT Chandigarh from 20th July under the guidance of Hon’ble Ms. Justice Ritu Bahri, Hon’ble Executive Chairperson, SLSA Chandigarh and Gurbir Singh, Learned District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, DLSA.

The campaign started with almost 400 cases of 200 Undertrial Prisoners, lodged in Model Jail, Chandigarh.

The campaign has now successfully completed and we are in the process of compiling the final report. In order to discuss the key finding of the campaign in UT Chandigarh a Press Briefing is being organized on 12th August, 2022 at 2.30 pm in the Conference Hall, District Legal Services Authority, 2nd Floor, Service Block, District Court, Sector 43, Chandigarh.
