Massive fire broke out in Dal Lake in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir
The Voice of Chandigarh: A massive fire broke out in Dal Lake in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. At least 5 houseboats and more than 10 wooden dwellings were destroyed in the fire. Three tourists from Bangladesh also died in the fire.
The fire broke out near ghat number 9 of Dal Lake. The fire was so fierce that within no time the nearby houseboats and wooden houses also got caught in the fire.
10 fire brigade vehicles were deployed to control the fire. But the fire was so severe that it took several hours to extinguish it.
The three tourists died.
The tourism industry of Dal Lake has also suffered huge losses due to the fire. Dal Lake is a major tourist destination of Srinagar. Lakhs of tourists come here every year.
The cause of the fire is being investigated. Police officials say that the fire may have started due to short circuit.
The fire caused panic in Srinagar. Local people helped in extinguishing the fire.
