Chandigarh Home Guards organization celebrates its 61st Raising Day

Chandigarh Home Guards organization celebrated the 61st Raising Day of Home Guards at the Parade Grounds of Chandigarh Home Guards Headquarters, Sector-17, Union Territory Chandigarh in a befitting manner under the guidance of Ketan Bansal, IPS, Assistant Commandant General Home Guards, UT and supervision of Ms. Palak Goel, DANIPS, District Commandant Home Guards, UT. .
Praveer Ranjan, IPS, Director General of Police-cum- Commandant General Home Guard, UT Chandigarh was the Chief Guest on the event. SSP, UT and SP/City graced the occasion. All DSPs of Chandigarh Police also attended the function. There was a gathering of about 350 Home Guard Volunteers/Guests.
On this occasion, 5 Contingents of total 103 HGVs consisting of three male Home Guards contingents, one Female Home Guards contingent, one Civil Defence, marched on the tune played by Chandigarh Police band.
Sanjeev Kumar Rathore, Honorary Company Commander led the ceremonial parade. On this occasion, the Commandant General Home Guards, UT Chandigarh addressed the gathering and praised the Home Guards for performing their duties with dedication. He also highlighted one martyr Home Guard Volunteer who laid- down his life in 1991, highlighted the achievements of the organization and various welfare measures undertaken in the interest of Home Guards. During the function, two HGVs namely H/PC Pushpinder Kumar No.95 and HGV Sukhwinder Singh No.62 were conferred with the award of President Medal for their meritorious service and 5 Home Guard Volunteers namely HGV Inderjit Singh No.1066, HGV Rajesh Kumar No.399, HGV Multan Singh No.1089, HGV Narinder Mohan No.412 and HGV Nathu Ram No.1144 were also awarded for their excellent performance in the refresher courses, that are being regularly conducted in the organization to keep them mentally and physically fit.
