Close Day Declared for Shops and Commercial Establishments in Union Territory Chandigarh on General Election Day 01.06.2024

The Voice of Chandigarh :

Whereas the poll in connection with General Elections to the Lok Sabha is to be held on 01.06.2024 (Saturday) in Union Territory, Chandigarh.

In this regard, the Election Commission of India, New Delhi vide their letter No. 78/EPS/2024 dated 16.03.2024 has invited the attention towards Section 135B of the Representation of People Act, 1951.

And whereas it is considered necessary to provide opportunity to the public to exercise their right to franchise;

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred under sub-section (1) of Section 10 of the Punjab Shops and Commercial Establishment Act, 1958 (Punjab Act No. 15 of 1958) as applicable to the Union Territory, Chandigarh, the Adviser to the Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, hereby fixes the 1st June, 2024 (Saturday) as a Close day for all Shops and Commercial Establishments throughout the Union Territory, Chandigarh.
