Punjab Police, Central Agencies Crack Chandigarh Grenade Blast Case: Main Perpetrator Arrested
The Voice of Chandigarh News: In a significant breakthrough amidst ongoing efforts to maintain peace in the region, Punjab Police, in a joint operation with central agencies, has cracked the Chandigarh grenade blast case. The operation led to the arrest of the main perpetrator, Rohan Masih, a resident of Passia, Amritsar. Police have also recovered a sophisticated 9mm Glock pistol and ammunition from his possession.
The grenade attack occurred on Wednesday evening in Sector-10, Chandigarh, when two individuals arrived in an auto-rickshaw and one of them threw a hand grenade into a house. Preliminary investigations revealed that the grenade, a military-grade weapon smuggled from across the border via drone with the help of the ISI, was used in the attack.
Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav identified Rohan Masih as the arrested suspect and disclosed that he confessed to carrying out the attack under the instructions of Harpreet Singh alias Happy Passia, a US-based operative. Passia had reportedly provided Masih with the grenade and weapon, along with financial rewards.
Further investigation is ongoing in collaboration with Chandigarh Police and central agencies to unravel the entire conspiracy. The AIG State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) Amritsar, Sukhminder Singh Mann, indicated that the attackers might have been targeting a specific individual, noting a similar thwarted attack at the same location last year.
Authorities continue to pursue leads to apprehend additional suspects and prevent future threats.
