Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Secures Third Consecutive Term in Haryana’s Assembly Elections

Keeping the predictions of exit polls aside, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has registered a historical victory in Haryana for the consecutive third term. The Congress Party on the other hand riding on the waves of anti- incumbency and over confidence has finally bowed to the mandate of the people hence, could not make it this time also.
The Seats
BJP in Haryana has increased seats from 41 to 48 with a vote margin over 3% where as Congress has increased its tally by six having total seats to 37 with a vote margin of 11 points.
Regional Parties
Poor performance was observed by the Regional Parties this time in Haryana Assembly elections. Two Regional Parties namely Indian National Lok Dal(INLD) and Jannayak Janata Party(JJP) having influence on Jat Community almost fell flat but couldn’t secure votes and vote share came down from 21% to merely 7% during current elections. In fact, the vote shares of these two regional parties went in favor of Congress.
The fact of the matter is the narrative created by Congress about anti-incumbency wave of BJP was converted into pro-incumbency through its pragmatic campaign which led to victory of BJP.
Assembly Elections of Jammu & Kashmir
It was a clear mandate for National Conference–Congress led alliance (INDIA bloc) by winning 41 seats out of 47 seats. The PDP was reduced to only 3 seats. BJP however won 29 seats in Hindu majority Jammu area. There needs to be cohesion between the centre run by BJP and respect the mandate of people to run Jammu & Kashmir government effectively as per aspirations of the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
Challenges to fulfill the promises of the voters
Now the residents of Haryana who have given mandate to BJP for the third time will surely look forward to newly elected Government to full fill the promises by creating job opportunities for the youths, solving the problems of farmers and other pending issues so as to assure a unified development of the state of Haryana.
Similarly in Jammu & Kashmir the promises of the people are to be full filled by giving top priory. Much remains to be done for uplifting the status of state and Union Territory of J&K for overall development.
