Important Parking and Traffic Information for Chandigarh Residents

In anticipation of significant traffic during the Dushera Festival, the Chandigarh Traffic Police has issued a public advisory urging residents and visitors to utilize designated parking areas and adhere to traffic regulations to ensure a smooth experience.

Authorized Parking Areas:

For the Dushera Festival at various locations, the following parking lots have been designated:

1. Parade Ground, Sector 17:

  • Sector 22-A Market Parking
  • Sector 22-B Market Parking
  • Football Ground Parking
  • Neelam Cinema Parking (Front and Rear)
  • Local Bus Stand Parking

2. Gurudwara, Sector 34:

  • Sabzi Mandi Ground
  • Shyam Mall Parking
  • Library Building Parking
  • Complex Parking
  • Open Ground near Sector 33D Market

3. Dushera Ground, Sector 46:

  • Market Parking
  • Booth Market Parking

Traffic Diversions:

To alleviate congestion during the festival, specific roads will be closed:

  • From 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM, traffic will be diverted away from ISBT Sector 17 Chowk on Udyog Path, allowing only buses to ply.
  • From 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM, the road from Sector 34/35 Light Point towards Furniture Market will be closed.
  • The road from Sector 45/46 Light Point to Sector 46 will also be closed during the same timeframe.

Public Advisory:

To further facilitate smooth traffic flow, the public is encouraged to:

  1. Walk to nearby destinations when possible.
  2. Consider carpooling to reduce vehicle numbers.
  3. Park efficiently in designated areas.
  4. Avoid ‘No Parking’ zones; violators will face towing or clamping.
  5. Keep cycle tracks and pedestrian pathways clear.
  6. Contact the Traffic Helpline at 1073 if a vehicle is towed or clamped.
  7. Exercise patience during traffic congestion and refrain from excessive honking.

The Chandigarh Traffic Police appreciates the cooperation of the public in making this festive season enjoyable and ensuring the city remains beautiful.
