Social Activist & renowned Businessman Vijay Passi gives Rs. 1.11 Cr. cheque to Punjab Governor for the welfare underprivileged meritorious students
The Voice of Chandigarh: In an initiative to provide support to the underprivileged meritorious students, Social Activist & renowned Businessman Vijay Passi handed over a Rs. 1.11 Cr. cheque to Punjab Governor & UT Administrator, Chandigarh Shri Gulab Chand Kataria here today at Punjab Raj Bhavan.
The Punjab Governor disclosed that this amount would be used for financially supporting the talented youth of Punjab & UT Chandigarh under the ‘Society for Empowerment of Disadvantaged Talented Youth’. The ‘Society for Empowerment of Disadvantaged Talented Youth’ has taken this initiative to honour meritorious students of class 10 and 8 of Government schools of Punjab and U.T. Chandigarh with cash scholarships and recognition certificates of Appreciation.
The Governor said that earlier in July & February this year as many as 600 students were honoured with the financial aid of more than 40 lac by the society and this practice will continue on regular basis.
These students are also given a round of Punjab Raj Bhavan, which enthuses them no end. A lot of these students, especially those from the far flung areas of Punjab never get an opportunity to visit Chandigarh, leave alone the Raj Bhavan and for them it is a unique and memorable experience, which gets them motivated for their entire student life and beyond. Infact, the entire schools from which these achievers come, take pride in this event and get hugely motivated to do well in their studies and life.
