Phase-11 Mohali Traders Hit Hard by Delays in Road Widening Project
The Voice of Chandigarh News: The ongoing road widening project near the parking entry of Phase-11 Mohali Market is causing major disruptions for local traders, with significant financial losses and reduced customer footfall. The delay, which has stretched for months, lacks an alternative route for customers to access the market, exacerbating the situation.

In response to the crisis, Dr. Satish Garg, Chief Advisor of the Market Association and a prominent social worker, along with Market President Gurbachan Singh, met with Punjab State Traders Commission Member Vineet Verma to address the issue. They submitted a formal complaint, highlighting the delayed construction and the severe impact on both traders and customers.
“The delay in the road widening project has caused a sharp drop in the number of customers visiting the market, which directly affects our businesses,” said Dr. Garg. “The ongoing construction, along with traffic congestion and dust, is making it even more difficult for shoppers to access the market.”
Vineet Verma, responding to the concerns, assured the traders that their complaint would be escalated to the relevant authorities and that immediate steps would be taken to expedite the construction work. He promised that the issue would be prioritized to ensure relief for the traders and restore normalcy to the market.
As traders await swift action, the pressure continues to mount on the authorities to resolve the ongoing construction delays and mitigate the negative impact on local businesses.
