
Jasbir Singh Bunty and Taruna Mehta Assume Office as Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Chandigarh

Newly elected Senior Deputy Mayor Jasbir Singh Bunty and Deputy Mayor Taruna Mehta officially assumed office at the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation in the presence of Chandigarh Congress State President HS Lucky. The event witnessed a massive turnout, with hundreds of senior leaders, party workers, and supporters joining the celebrations.

Under the leadership of HS Lucky, Bunty and Mehta, along with their fellow councillors, made their way to the Municipal Corporation office in a grand procession. Supporters, dancing to the rhythmic beats of drums, cheered enthusiastically as the leaders paraded through the streets. A large gathering of Congress leaders and party workers eagerly awaited their arrival, greeting them with garlands and chanting slogans in support of Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Manish Tiwari, HS Lucky, and the Congress Party.
The procession, filled with energy and excitement, took approximately thirty minutes to reach the office as supporters jostled for photo opportunities and presented bouquets to the newly elected officials. The joy and enthusiasm of the attendees were evident as Bunty and Mehta formally took charge.

Following the ceremony, Congress President HS Lucky emphasized the party’s commitment to the city’s progress, highlighting that this victory marks Congress’s return to the Municipal Corporation after a twelve-year gap. He assured the public that the new leadership would work tirelessly for the city’s development.
Representatives from various Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), market associations, trade bodies, the Grain Market Association, temple committees, NGOs, and different unions also extended their congratulations by presenting bouquets to the new officials.


In his address, Senior Deputy Mayor Jasbir Singh Bunty reaffirmed his dedication to the city’s growth, stating that even in opposition, they would remain steadfast in their mission. Deputy Mayor Taruna Mehta shared that before assuming office, she performed rituals with a Pandit ji and Granthi ji. She stressed that her top priorities include addressing the Municipal Corporation’s financial challenges and ensuring the implementation of key proposals at the grassroots level.
Both leaders expressed their heartfelt gratitude to MP Manish Tiwari, Congress President Harmohinder Singh Lucky, alliance councillors, senior party leaders, and workers for their unwavering support.
