Major Financial & Immigration Fraud Cases Unearthed in Chandigarh – FIRs Lodged, Investigations Underway

Chandigarh police have registered multiple FIRs involving large-scale financial fraud cases across different police stations. Investigations are underway in all cases.

Cyber Crime Fraud – ₹59.79 Lakh Lost in Share Market Scam

An FIR (No. 14) has been registered at Cyber Crime Police Station, Sector-17, Chandigarh, on the complaint of Manmohan Singh Marwaha of Sector 49/A, Chandigarh. The complainant was allegedly cheated out of ₹59,79,400 by unknown individuals who lured him into investing in the stock market. The case has been registered under Sections 319(2), 318(4), 338, 336(3), 340(2), and 61(2) of the BNS.

Immigration Fraud – 17 People Cheated of ₹2.15 Crore

In another major fraud case, 17 complainants, including Jaspreet and Hardeep, have accused Manpreet Singh Khurana and others, residents of Sector 35/A, Chandigarh, of scamming them out of approximately ₹2.15 crore with false promises of sending them to the United States. An FIR (No. 44) has been registered at Police Station Sector-36, Chandigarh, under Sections 316(2), 318(4), 336(3), 338, 340(2), 61(2) BNS & 24 Immigration Act.

Real Estate Fraud – Two FIRs Against Manohar Infra Director

Two separate cases have been registered at Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Sector-17, Chandigarh, against the Director of M/S Manohar Infra, SCO No. 139-141, Sector 17, Chandigarh, for alleged fraud in real estate transactions.

  • FIR No. 07: A woman from Ambala Cantt, Haryana, accused the director of defrauding her in a property transaction. The case is booked under Sections 406, 420, 464, and 120B IPC.
  • FIR No. 08: Surender Singh of Mohali, Punjab, has filed a similar complaint against the same individual for fraudulent property dealings.
