
World Blood Donor Day 2025 Celebrated with Enthusiasm at GMSH-16, Chandigarh
Theme: “Give Blood, Give Hope: Together We Save Lives!”

World Blood Donor Day was commemorated today with great enthusiasm and gratitude at the Blood Centre of Government Multispecialty Hospital, Sector 16, Chandigarh. The day is observed annually on 14th June to honour voluntary, non-remunerated blood donors for their life-saving contributions.

The theme for this year’s campaign, “Give blood, give hope: together we save lives!”, emphasized the crucial role of solidarity and voluntary donation in saving lives.
The event featured an in-house blood donation camp, inaugurated by Dr. Suman Singh, Director, Health & Family Welfare, U.T. Chandigarh. She expressed heartfelt appreciation to regular blood donors, recognizing their priceless gift of life, and underscored the importance of voluntary blood donations, especially during emergencies and disasters.

The camp was further graced by Dr. Sushil Kumar Mahi, Medical Superintendent, and Dr. Parmjit Singh, Deputy Medical Superintendent, who encouraged donors and highlighted the need for committed and safe blood donors. They emphasized community participation in organizing regular donation drives to ensure a sufficient and safe blood supply, which is vital for patients suffering from severe anemia, cancer, thalassemia, accident trauma, and obstetric complications.
