Kerala Travel Delegation Explores Malaysian Gems: B2B Success in Kuala Lumpur & Warm Welcome in Sabah

In a dynamic initiative to enhance travel trade relations and promote tourism exchange, a 30-member delegation of travel agents and tour operators from the Kerala Chapter embarked on an enriching journey to Kota Kinabalu and Kuala Lumpur from 24th to 28th June 2025.

The tour commenced in the coastal paradise of Kota Kinabalu, where the group was extended a grand welcome by the Sabah Tourism Board, which graciously sponsored the entire stay and curated an immersive travel experience. The delegation was accommodated in premium 5-star properties, with the iconic Pacific Sutera Hotel standing out as a memorable highlight.

Tour arrangements were seamlessly handled by Borneo Trails Tours & Travel, while elite hospitality partners including Le Méridien, Hilton, Promenade, and Hotel Shangri-La Downtown hosted the group for exquisite lunches and dinners. A breathtaking island excursion further showcased Sabah’s pristine natural beauty and left an indelible mark on the participants.

From the serene beaches of Sabah, the delegation ascended to the cool heights of Genting Highlands, where they stayed at the luxurious Wyndham Ion Majestic—a truly unforgettable experience, with stunning views from the top floor. On the way, the group relished authentic Kerala cuisine at Jaipur Mahal Restaurant, run by a proud Keralite, and later enjoyed a delightful lunch hosted by Resorts World Genting.

In Kuala Lumpur, the group checked into the centrally located Berjaya Times Square Hotel, which also became the venue for the highly successful 5th Kerala Chapter Meeting and a grand B2B Networking Session. The event was marked by remarkable participation from nearly 90 Malaysian tour operators, pushing total attendance to approximately 125 delegates.

Lunch and dinner were generously sponsored by Ibis Kuala Lumpur and Sagar Restaurant, reflecting the spirit of collaboration and hospitality. The entire Kuala Lumpur leg was flawlessly coordinated by the Malaysian Tourism Board, with support from official tour operator Tourland Midways.

This landmark initiative was made possible through the guidance and unwavering support of Dr. Aruldass, President of MITTA, whose interaction with the Kerala Chapter during the MITTA Roadshow in Trivandrum laid the foundation for this impactful visit.

The journey not only strengthened travel ties between Kerala and Malaysia but also provided invaluable exposure to the diverse tourism offerings of Sabah and Kuala Lumpur, paving the way for increased collaboration in the future.
