Manish Tewari Leads Congress Outreach Blitz in Chandigarh: Massive Public Support at Grain Market, Wool Market & Mauli Jagran

The Voice of Chandigarh:

The Sector 26 Grain Market Association gave a grand and heartfelt welcome to Chandigarh Member of Parliament Manish Tewari and Chandigarh Congress President H.S. Lucky on Saturday. The entire marketplace buzzed with enthusiasm as traders and office-bearers gathered in large numbers to meet the senior Congress leaders.

During the visit, Association President Mohit Sood, along with other office-bearers, submitted a detailed memorandum highlighting the challenges faced by traders and shopkeepers, including poor sanitation, deteriorating infrastructure, fear of frequent official notices, excessive municipal charges, lack of parking, security concerns, and consistent harassment under the guise of regulations.

In a significant announcement, MP Manish Tewari pledged ₹10 lakh from his MP Local Area Development (MP-LAD) Fund for the installation of CCTV cameras in the market to improve surveillance and ensure safety.

A Day of Dialogue and Listening:

Later in the evening, the two Congress leaders also participated in two more public outreach programs — one at Sector 38 Wool Market, hosted by Manish Lamba, and another at Mauli Jagran Colony, organized by Lekhpal. Both locations witnessed enthusiastic participation from shopkeepers, street vendors, and local residents, who voiced concerns about lack of basic amenities, poor sanitation, and rising law-and-order issues.

Leaders Speak Out:

MP Manish Tewari, in his address, strongly criticized the current administration:

“The condition of our markets and colonies clearly reflects the misplaced priorities of the BJP-led administration. A public representative must support traders, shopkeepers, and citizens — not threaten or burden them. Congress will continue to raise your voice on every platform and ensure your rights are protected.”

H.S. Lucky, President of the Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee, added:

“Whether it is Sector 26 or Mauli Jagran — the message is clear: people are tired of administrative neglect and everyday hardships. Be it traders, workers, or common citizens — everyone yearns for an honest administration and freedom from bureaucratic red tape. Congress stands firmly with the people and will amplify their voice from the ground to the corridors of power.”

Distinguished Attendees:

Prominent personalities present at the Sector 26 event included D.P. Randhawa, Former Mayor Rajkumar Goyal, Sanjeev Chadha, Krishan Baveja, Rajkumar Gupta, Bhim Sen Aggarwal, and Yanki Kalia, among others.

Public Response Reflects Growing Support:

The large turnout at all three events demonstrated the growing public trust in Congress leadership and highlighted the party’s commitment to grassroots engagement. The day served as both a symbolic show of strength and a practical platform for dialogue between citizens and their elected representatives.
