Dr. Sagar Preet Hooda Appointed as DGP of Chandigarh

In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Ministry of Home Affairs has appointed Dr. Sagar Preet Hooda as the new Director General of Police (DGP) for Chandigarh. The order issued by the Union Home Ministry states:
“Dr. Sagar Preet Hooda, a 1997-batch AGMUT-cadre Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, is hereby transferred from Delhi to Chandigarh and posted as DGP with immediate effect until further orders.”
Dr. Hooda has been serving as the Special Commissioner of Police with the Delhi Police since January 2024. Known for his strong administrative acumen and effective policing strategies, his appointment comes at a crucial time as Chandigarh continues to strengthen its law enforcement framework.
With extensive experience across various policing domains, Dr. Hooda’s leadership is expected to bring fresh impetus to policing and public safety efforts in the Union Territory.
