Railways Introduce 20% Discount on Return Journey for Festival Round Trip Package
The Voice of Chandigarh
In a major festive season relief for passengers, Indian Railways has announced an experimental Round Trip Package Scheme offering a 20% rebate on the base fare of return journeys for bookings covering both Diwali and Chhath vacations.
Aimed at easing festival rush, optimizing train utilization, and ensuring hassle-free booking, the scheme will apply to confirmed tickets for the same passengers, class, and origin-destination pair in both directions.
Key Highlights of the Scheme:
-
Booking Start Date: 14 August 2025
-
Onward Journey Window: 13 October to 26 October 2025
-
Return Journey Window: 17 November to 1 December 2025
-
Advance Reservation Period not applicable for return ticket booking.
-
Applicable for all classes and all trains (including special trains) except those with Flexi Fare.
-
No refunds, modifications, or other concessions allowed.
-
Tickets must be booked either entirely online or entirely at counters.
Passengers can avail the benefit only if both onward and return tickets are booked under the scheme, with details matching for the same set of travellers.
The initiative is expected to encourage passengers to spread out their travel dates and help manage peak festival congestion more efficiently.
