CHANDIGARH “RED RUN” WITNESSES ENTHUSIASTIC PARTICIPATION FROM COLLEGE STUDENTS

The Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society (CSACS) successfully organized the State-level Chandigarh “Red Run”at Sukhna Lake, Chandigarh, with active participation from students representing about 20 colleges of the city. The event aimed to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, encourage healthy lifestyles, and engage the youth as ambassadors in the fight against stigma and discrimination.

The run was flagged off by Ajay Chagti, IAS, Secretary Health, U.T. Chandigarh. The event was graced by Mrs. Anuradha Chagti, CSS, Secretary Social Welfare, U.T. Chandigarh as Guest of Honour and Dr. Suman Singh, Director Health Services, U.T. Chandigarh as Special Guest.

Dr. Sadhbhavna Pandit, Project Director, Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society, said, “The active involvement of college students reflects the power of youth in spreading awareness and building a compassionate society. Their commitment will help Chandigarh move towards an HIV-free future.”
The competition was held in two categories – Male and Female.
The winners were awarded cash prizes 1st Prize Rs. 15,000/-, 2nd Prize Rs 10,000/- and 3rd Prize Rs. 5000.
The winners of the Chandigarh “Red Run” are:
Male Category
1. Ajay Raj Singh, SD College-32, 1st position, Rs. 15,000/-
2. Navdeep, SD College-32, 2nd position, Rs. 10,000/-
3. Vipin, SGGSC-26, 3rd position, Rs. 5,000/-
Female Category
1. Aarju, SGGSC-26, 1st position, Rs. 15,000/-
2. Ujjala, MCM DAV-36, 2nd position, Rs. 10,000/-
3. Aarti, SGGSC-26, 3rd position, Rs. 5,000/-
These winners 1st and 2nd position in Male and Female category will now have the honor to represent Chandigarh in the National Red Run, scheduled to be held in October 2025 in Nagaland.
The event was marked with great enthusiasm and unity, showcasing the determination of Chandigarh’s youth to stand together for a healthier tomorrow.
