A historic day for the nation, particularly for the people of Mizoram, from today, Aizawl will be on India’s railway map: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development projects worth over ₹9000 crore in Aizawl, Mizoram, covering sectors such as railways, roadways, energy, and sports. Addressing the people via videoconference due to bad weather, he bowed to Supreme God Pathian and expressed gratitude for the affection of the people of Mizoram.

Highlighting Mizoram’s contribution to India’s freedom movement and nation-building, Shri Modi praised Mizo values of courage, sacrifice, and compassion. He said the government has consistently focused on the North East, placing multiple states on India’s rail map, expanding roads, electricity, water, internet, and air connectivity. He announced helicopter services under UDAN to improve access to remote areas.
The PM noted Mizoram’s role in the Act East Policy and the North East Economic Corridor, linking the state with the Bay of Bengal and Southeast Asia. He emphasized empowering youth through Eklavya schools, startups, and sports infrastructure under Khelo India. He also highlighted GST reforms that reduced taxes on essentials, medicines, and travel, benefiting families and boosting tourism.
Reaffirming India’s strong economic growth of 7.8% in Q1 2025–26, Modi underlined that Mizoram will play a vital role in building a developed India.
Governor V.K. Singh, Chief Minister Lalduhoma, and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw attended the event.
