CBM Collects Over ₹15 Lakh Relief Fund for Flood Victims

9 New Members Inducted to Expand the Organization

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Beopar Mandal (CBM) held its second executive body meeting under the chairmanship of President Sanjeev Chadha. Office-bearers and executive members participated in the meeting where several important decisions were taken.

Sanjeev Chadha informed that to strengthen the trader community, CBM inducted 9 new members. He further shared that CBM has collected over ₹15 lakh as relief funds for the flood victims of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. This relief amount will be distributed under the guidance of the Governor of Punjab.

During the meeting, the association passed a resolution to thank the Central Government for the recent historic reduction in GST rates. These cuts will benefit a large population and are expected to boost trade and sales.

CBM also extended its support to the All India Vyapar Mandal’s demand to celebrate the birth anniversary of Bhamashah as National Traders’ Day. Additionally, CBM resolved to launch welfare schemes in memory of its founding president, Late Inder Lal Batra, for traders, their families, and staff.

On this occasion, Sanjeev Chadha highlighted the organization’s major achievements over the past three months, which included:

  • Ensuring cleanliness of the grain market and resolving the problem of unauthorized stalls during procurement,

  • Stopping wrongful challans of vehicles from outside states after strict orders by the new DGP,

  • Getting approval for the long-pending parking proposal to resolve parking issues in Sector 45 Burail Circular Road Market, and

  • Proposing the release of a souvenir to highlight CBM members’ identity and represent the business community across the city.

Former Haryana Assembly Speaker and senior CBM member Gyanchand Gupta appreciated the Modi Government for the GST rate cuts and emphasized their positive economic impact. A vote of thanks was passed on this occasion.

Former President and current Vice President Divakar Sahoonja announced that all founding members will be given the status of life members, regardless of whether they are still in business or not. In addition, welfare schemes will be launched in memory of Late Inder Lal Batra, under which financial assistance and scholarships will be provided to the dependents of traders and their staff in need.

On this occasion, trader leaders including Radhe Bajaj, Baljinder Gujral, Harikishan Kakkar, Vinay Jain, Ramesh Khandelwal, and Mohit Sood also addressed the gathering, stressing the importance of united representation of traders.

General Secretary Sunil Gupta conducted the proceedings of the meeting, while Vice President Divakar Sahoonja presented the vote of thanks at the end.
