MANAV SEVA – THE JOURNEY OF AMAR VIVEK
Justice, Village Seva, and 175 Blood Donations: The Story of a practising lawyer
The Voice of Chandigarh:
For nearly four decades, Advocate Amar Vivek, a lawyer practicing in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, has lived a life where law and serving humanity walk hand in hand. His journey is not merely about courtrooms, petitions, and judgments—it is about carrying the spirit of Manav Seva into every sphere of life. Founder of the Sri Sathya Sai Manav Seva Free Hospital at Village Kurari, Mohali, and co-creator of several other humanitarian projects, he looks back on over 45 years of relentless service as a sacred offering at the feet of Lord by serving humanity.

The Seed of Service – Village Seva since 1990
On the 35th Anniversary of Sri Sathya Sai Gramin Jagriti, a charitable trust he co-founded on 12th September 1990, Amar Vivek recalls the divine blessings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba that gave his life a deeper meaning. What began as a humble effort has grown into a mission—educating the underprivileged through a free state-of-the-art school at Village Darwa, Yamuna Nagar, supporting free Education till 10th class, vocational education, and providing medical relief through a free hospital.
The school, built for children who had little hope of education, won national recognition when Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, President of India, made a special mention of it in his farewell address to the Nation in July 2007 and also in an exclusive India Today interview.
A Lifeline in Every Drop – 175 Blood Donations
Service flows not just through his actions but literally through his veins. Since 30th July 1981, Amar Vivek has been donating blood every 90 days, clocking 175 donations to date. What for many is an occasional act, for him has become a biological rhythm—a silent vow to save lives through every drop.
Recognitions – A Journey of Inspiration
For his tireless work among villages, slums, and underprivileged communities, he was honoured with the National Youth Award in 1985, presented personally by Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on 12th January 1987. But Amar Vivek believes the true award is the ability to continue serving, guided by the grace of Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
Inspiration from a Father’s Legacy
His father, Santosh Kumar Aggarwal, Advocate and social worker, remains his eternal role model. A lawyer by profession but a servant of society at heart, Santosh Kumar left behind a wish that became his son’s mission. To honour it, Amar Vivek co-founded the Sri Sathya Sai Manav Seva Free Hospital at Village Kurari, Mohali, which opened its doors for serving poor on 1st July 2024.
Within months, the hospital has treated countless patients, provided free medicines, conducted diagnostic tests, and performed over 325 free eye surgeries, carrying the torch of healthcare where it is most needed.
Service in the Face of Crisis – Covid Initiatives
When the world was paralyzed by Covid-19, Amar Vivek co-founded two free 50-bedded Covid hospitals in May 2021 and January 2022. These centres became sanctuaries of hope in the darkest times, embodying the spirit of service at the hour of greatest human need.
Empowering Youth – Skill Development Mission
As a Co-Trustee of Sure Trust, since July 2020, he has been engaged in providing totally free training in nearly 40 courses to rural engineering graduates, bridging the critical gap between education and employability. Today, over 600 students are actively training, preparing to step into industry with confidence and skills.
And yet, his vision soars higher—Amar Vivek is now working on an ultra-modern Skill Development Centre at Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s native village, Khatkan Kalan (Nawanshahr). In partnership with Guru Nanak Trust, Banga, this facility will empower post-10th class youth in nearly 30 trades, using advanced CNC and simulation-based machines. Scheduled to commence on 23rd November 2025, the 100th Birthday of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, it will stand as a living tribute to both patriotism and divinity.

Justice Beyond Fees – Pro Bono and PILs
Law remains his profession, but service remains his soul. Over the years, Amar Vivek has undertaken numerous pro bono cases and public interest litigations for those who could never afford justice. Recently, his efforts secured a life-saving heart valve battery replacement for a young labourer, absolutely free of cost, through a PIL before the Hon’ble High Court.
The Spirit of Manav Seva
For Amar Vivek, Manav Seva is not a part of life—it is life itself.
He often says:
“Blood donation has gifted me health. Every 90 days, fresh blood flows through my veins. Likewise, service has gifted me purpose. It makes me breathe every moment to live for others, if not by action, then at least in prayer.”
His ultimate dream is the creation of a 1000-bedded, state-of-the-art free hospital for the poor, a sanctuary where no one is denied treatment for want of money.
A Life’s Message
Amar Vivek’s journey is proof that a lawyer’s life need not be confined to files and arguments—it can be a channel of compassion, justice, and service. His message to all is clear:
“Life is truly worth living only when it serves others. Serving Humanity is Serving Divinity.”
