Chandigarh Imposes Section 163 Restrictions Around Judicial Exam Centre

Chandigarh, Sept 15: The District Magistrate of Chandigarh, Nishant Kumar Yadav, I.A.S., has issued prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 ahead of the Punjab and Haryana Superior Judicial Service Main Written Examination 2025.

The exams are scheduled from September 19 to 21 at MCM DAV College, Sector-36, Chandigarh. To ensure fair conduct and maintain law and order, strict restrictions will be in place around the examination centre.

According to the order, gatherings of four or more persons, carrying of firearms, weapons or objectionable items, and raising slogans or displaying placards within 100 meters of the exam centre are strictly prohibited.

Further, the use of photostat machines, mobile phones, laptops, Wi-Fi hotspots, and the functioning of law coaching centres within 200 meters of the exam centre will remain suspended during the examination period.

The restrictions will remain in force from midnight of September 19 until September 21, 2025. However, the order will not apply to police, paramilitary, military or government officials on duty.

The District Magistrate warned that violations of the order would attract action under Section 223 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and other applicable laws.
