Chandigarh Successfully Concludes 40-Hour Mediation Training Under “Mediation for the Nation” Campaign

The Voice of Chandigarh – The State Legal Services Authority (SLSA), Chandigarh, in association with the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC), New Delhi, successfully concluded a five-day, 40-hour Mediation Training Programme at the District Court Complex, Sector-43, Chandigarh. The programme was held from 15th to 19th September 2025.

The initiative, part of the national campaign “Mediation for the Nation”, was launched under the guidance of Chief Justice of India, and Hon’ble Justice Surya Kant, Judge, Supreme Court; Executive Chairman of NALSA and Chairman of MCPC.

In Chandigarh, the training was conducted under the leadership of Hon’ble Justice Sheel Nagu, Chief Justice, Punjab & Haryana High Court & Patron-in-Chief, SLSA Chandigarh, and Hon’ble Justice Deepak Sibal, Judge, Punjab & Haryana High Court & Executive Chairman, SLSA Chandigarh.

A total of 20 participants took part, including 17 community mediators, a retired judicial officer, the Chairperson of the Permanent Lok Adalat (Public Utility Services), and one PLA (PUS) member.

Senior trainers Mr. Swarn Sameer and Ms. Monika Jalota (MCPC, New Delhi) conducted the sessions, focusing on effective mediation techniques, practical aspects, and interactive exercises.

At the valedictory session, certificates were awarded to all participants. Ms. Sampreet Kaur, Member Secretary, SLSA Chandigarh, and Mr. Sunil Kumar, Secretary, DLSA Chandigarh, extended gratitude to the trainers, participants, and supporting staff.

The SLSA reaffirmed its commitment to organizing such capacity-building programmes, ensuring justice remains affordable, accessible, and time-bound for all citizens.
