Chandigarh Launches Doorstep Ambulance Care for Bedridden & 80+ Elderly

A dedicated ambulance with a medical team has been deputed to provide medical care at door step for Elderly patients above 80 or who are Bed ridden/debilitated.

This unique initiative aims to bring compassionate healthcare directly to the homes of elderly patients, ensuring timely medical support, comfort, and dignity in their advanced years.

The ambulance service will operate from Monday to Saturdfay between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Each team, consisting of a doctor, a nurse, and a paramedic, will be able to visit 5–6 patients daily. During these visits, patients will receive medical check-ups, counseling, basic treatment, and medicines if required. In case of serious illness, they will be shifted to healthcare facility for admission .

Senior citizens or their family members can request this service by calling 0172-2782457 or 0172-2752043 (GMSH-16 helpline) and book a slot for the convenience of the individual/family. The call-taker will check eligibility, record the details of the request, and inform the caller of the approximate time of the team’s visit. The health team will then provide assistance at the patient’s home. For emergency situations, citizens may continue to call 112, which is available 24×7.
