Kamaljit Singh Panchhi Appeals for Nov 25 Public Holiday on 350th Shaheedi Divas of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji
The Voice of Chandigarh:
Kamaljit Singh Panchhi, President of the National Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Force, Chandigarh, has formally appealed to the Hon’ble Governor of Punjab & Administrator, Chandigarh, to declare 25th November as a public holiday in commemoration of the 350th Shaheedi Divas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, revered as Hind Ki Chadar.

In his appeal, Panchhi said that the day marks the supreme sacrifice of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, who laid down his life to uphold religious freedom, human rights, and justice. He stated that the Guru’s unparalleled martyrdom remains a guiding light for the entire nation.
According to Panchhi, declaring November 25 a public holiday would enable citizens to pay homage, reflect on Guru Sahib’s teachings, and participate in commemorative events across the region. He added that such recognition would not only honour the Ninth Guru’s legacy but also inspire the younger generation to stand for righteousness, unity, and protection of the oppressed.
He urged the authorities to consider the significance of the 350th anniversary and grant the day its rightful honour in the public calendar.
