Chandigarh Chief Secretary Directs Speedy Completion of Key Projects; Departments Told to Strengthen Revenue & Governance

A high-level review meeting chaired by H. Rajesh Prasad, Chief Secretary, UT Chandigarh, was held to evaluate the progress of major ongoing administrative works across departments.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary issued firm directions to the Engineering Department to ensure the completion of all pending road repair projects across the city by 15 December 2025, stressing the need for timely execution and enhanced public convenience.
The Estate Office was instructed to conduct auctions of vacant residential and commercial properties following a structured and calibrated schedule. Similarly, the Chandigarh Housing Board was directed to roll out e-auctions of its properties in a phased and transparent manner.
To boost financial health, the Municipal Corporation was advised to intensify revenue-generation measures, including streamlining parking management, ensuring recovery of outstanding property tax, and strengthening the collection of advertisement charges.
Reiterating the importance of legal compliance, the Chief Secretary emphasized that all departments must strictly adhere to court directions, cautioning that any lapse would be taken seriously.
With the onset of the winter season, the Municipal Corporation and the Social Welfare Department were directed to ensure that adequate night shelters remain fully operational for the needy, equipped with proper safety and comfort facilities.
He further instructed that the recruitment rules for various departments be expedited and that posts across the Chandigarh Administration be rationalised to improve governance efficiency.
The meeting was attended by Diprava Lakra, Finance Secretary; Prerna Puri, Secretary Engineering; Amit Kumar, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation; Pushpendra Kumar, IGP; Saurabh Kumar, CCF; and other senior officers.
