Justice Surya Kant Sworn In as Chief Justice of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan

At a solemn ceremony held this morning in the Ganatantra Mandap of Rashtrapati Bhavan, Justice Surya Kant was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India. He made and subscribed to the oath of office before the President of India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the ceremony, along with senior dignitaries from the government, judiciary, and public life.

Following the ceremony, the Prime Minister conveyed his greetings through a post on X, stating:
“Attended the oath taking ceremony of Justice Surya Kant as the Chief Justice of India. Best wishes to him for his tenure ahead.”

With his elevation, Chief Justice Surya Kant assumes leadership of the judiciary at the apex court, bringing with him a distinguished record of service and experience across various constitutional roles.
