3-Day Zero Waste 38th Chrysanthemum Show Concludes with Cultural Evening

Mayor Distributes Prizes to Winners

The three-day Zero Waste 38th Chrysanthemum Show–2025 concluded with a prize distribution ceremony and cultural evening at the Terraced Garden, Sector 33, Chandigarh.
Harpreet Kaur Babla, Mayor, Chandigarh, was the Chief Guest on the concluding day. She distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions organized during the show. The function was attended by Amit Kumar, IAS, Commissioner, Pradeep Kumar, Special Commissioner, Joint Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Gupta and Dr. Inderjeet, HCS, Anju Katyal, Area Councillor, other councillors and senior officers of the Municipal Corporation.
The Mayor visited the garden and appreciated the beautiful display of chrysanthemums arranged in different designs and combinations. She also visited various stalls, including the Swachh Bharat Mission stall, which focused on awareness about segregation of waste at source. Other stalls highlighted home composting, horticulture waste composting, Safai Mitra, construction and demolition waste management, and PRARAMBH, an eco-friendly store for sustainable products run by a self-help group with the support of the Municipal Corporation.
The Mayor appreciated the efforts of the Municipal Corporation officials for organizing the show and said that such events promote cleanliness, environmental awareness, and the beauty of the city.
Gardeners of the Horticulture Department, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, displayed their creativity by making different models of animals, birds, and other structures using flowers. The Chrysanthemum Show was organized as a complete zero waste event. On-site composting pits were set up to process food waste from the stalls, and all cleanliness norms were strictly followed.
Cultural programmes were organized throughout the day, including Rajasthani and Punjabi folk dances, Bhangra, Sufi music, and Mushaira, with performances by school students and artists.
Later, the Mayor and other dignitaries distributed prizes to the winners in various categories. Gardeners of the Municipal Corporation were also felicitated during the function.
Anju Katyal, Area Councillor, proposed the vote of thanks and thanked the Mayor, officers, staff, gardeners, participants, and citizens for their support in successfully organizing the three-day 38th Chrysanthemum Show–2025.
