Delhi Airport Shock: Air India Express Pilot–Passenger Clash Leaves Flyer with Fractured Nose, Victim Seeks Justice

The Voice of Chandigarh :

A disturbing incident at Indira Gandhi International Airport has sparked nationwide outrage after an off-duty Air India Express pilot was accused of assaulting a passenger, allegedly causing a fracture to his nose, during a heated altercation at Terminal-1.

According to police and media reports, the clash erupted over a queue-related dispute near the security check area. The passenger, identified as Ankit Dewan, claimed he was punched repeatedly, leaving him bleeding and injured in front of his family, including his young daughter.

Medical examination later confirmed a nasal bone fracture, strengthening the passenger’s complaint. “I hope I get justice,” Dewan told the media, stating that no one should face such violence at a public place like an airport.

Delhi Police have registered an FIR and are investigating the case, while reviewing CCTV footage and witness statements. Cross-complaints have also been filed, as the pilot has denied wrongdoing and alleged provocation.

In response, Air India Express has suspended the pilot pending inquiry. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has ordered a detailed probe and sought reports from airport security agencies on how the incident escalated despite CISF presence.

The episode has raised serious questions about passenger safety, conduct of airline personnel, and crowd management at India’s busiest airport.
