Rs. 14.85 Crore Outstanding from Maloya ARHC Flats; Chief Secretary Orders Strict Recovery Action

A meeting of the Inter-Departmental State Level Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee was held today under the chairmanship of H. Rajesh Prasad, Chief Secretary, UT Chandigarh Administration. Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla was also present during the meeting.

During the deliberations, the Secretary, Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) informed the Committee that 1,707 flats at Maloya were allotted in 2020 for a tenure of 25 years under the Affordable Rental Housing Complexes (ARHC) scheme of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Additionally, 285 flats were allotted to beneficiaries in 2022 for a tenure of five years.

It was further apprised that an amount of ₹14.85 crore is currently outstanding from the allottees of these flats.

Taking serious note of the matter, the Chief Secretary directed CHB authorities to expedite the recovery of outstanding dues. He further instructed that cancellation of allotments and eviction proceedings be initiated against defaulters without delay. CHB was also directed to submit action-taken reports regarding cancellation and eviction proceedings against defaulting allottees.

The meeting was attended by Diprava Lakra, Finance Secretary; Pardeep Kumar, CEO, CHB; Akhil Kumar, Secretary, CHB; C.B. Ojha, Chief Engineer, along with other senior officers of the Administration.
