The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in partnership with Red Bull, marked a milestone for Thailand’s tourism and extreme sports landscape by supporting a historic wingsuit flight over Bangkok. The feat saw Hollywood stuntman and Red Bull Air Force athlete Miles Daisher leap from an aircraft and soar past lebua at State Tower at speeds of 260 kilometres per hour before landing on a vessel along the Chao Phraya River, reinforcing Thailand’s position as a destination for experience-driven and high-adrenaline travel.
Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, said, “This collaboration reflects TAT’s strategic focus on advancing sports tourism and experience-based travel as key drivers of Thailand’s tourism growth. By creating distinctive, high-value experiences, we aim to attract quality travellers seeking meaningful and memorable journeys. Adventure and extreme activities represent a growing global subculture, and through our Amazing 5 Economy strategy, we are expanding opportunities to increase visitor spend, extend length of stay, and strengthen Thailand’s position as a leading destination for experience-driven, high-adrenaline tourism.”
Building on this vision, Nithee Seeprae, TAT Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications, added, “This historic wingsuit flight was driven by a shared ambition to redefine how Thailand can be experienced. By bringing an activity typically associated with natural landscapes into the heart of Bangkok, we are demonstrating Thailand’s adaptability and ability to deliver distinctive, experience-driven travel while preserving Thai cultural identity. This reflects Thailand’s evolution as a destination that is both rooted in heritage and open to innovation.”
The operation highlighted precise technical coordination and strong multi-sector support, underscoring Thailand’s capability to host complex, world-class sporting showcases. It reflects TAT’s strategic direction to elevate the country’s global image through distinctive experiences that combine urban landmarks, innovation, and contemporary tourism appeal.
The flight path incorporated central Bangkok’s architectural landmarks, including a pass by lebua at State Tower, the filming location of the Hollywood blockbuster The Hangover: Part II and home to the golden-domed Sky Bar and Sirocco rooftop restaurant, reinforcing the capital’s visual identity and global recognition. Narawadee Bualert, President and CEO of lebua Bangkok, said this collaboration demonstrates how Bangkok can serve as a stage for globally significant moments, highlighting the city’s capacity to host distinctive experiences that resonate with international audiences.
According to Miles Daisher, urban wingsuit flying in Bangkok required advanced precision due to complex wind conditions created by dense urban structures, with turbulent air patterns demanding a carefully controlled descent to achieve a successful landing on the Chao Phraya River. With over 12,000 skydives and extensive experience in aerial performance, his participation underscores the technical credibility of the operation while signalling growing international interest in Thailand as a location for advanced aerial sports and cinematic-scale productions, with future plans to explore coastal areas such as Railay Beach and Ton Sai Beach in Krabi.
