Municipal Corporation Panchkula Elections 2026 : Developing Story – Mayor Panchkula
By H.C. Gera (Political Analyst)
Finally the elections of Municipal Corporation Panchkula have been announced and the political activities for canvassing by the candidates of various parties have already begun and are being geared up day by day.
It is not an unusual scenario to be witnessed by the voters and the contesting candidates. The manifestoes, promises without fulfillment have lost sheen and excitement.

Speculations and predictions occupy the prime place in debates and in streets and in shopping areas by certain political Pundits claiming to be experts. Few candidates have adopted the old system of campaign through fitted loudspeakers on autos and other vehicles while others have adopted social media platforms to attract the first time voters and younger persons who are practically tech – savvy.
The political scenario
Till the political story is developed further for the Mayor of Panchkula, several twists and turns are observed. The candidates who fought election during last time and even won the elections were denied tickets by BJP. They were annoyed to that extent that they defected from BJP and decided to contest elections as an independent candidate. The message went across the voters as well as the senior leaders of BJP. In order to neutralize their annoyance the Chief Minister of Haryana Nayab Singh Saini had to intervene by visiting their houses personally to pacify them and to appease them for the withdrawal of nomination as independent candidates from Ward No.3 and Ward Number 4. They were taken back in the fold of BJP with some assurances from the Chief Minister of Haryana.
In the meantime from Congress Sudha Bhardwaj was declared the candidate for Mayor while the BJP took little more time to decide the candidate Mayor of Panchkula. BJP has also declared Sham Lal Bansal as the candidate for Mayor of Panchkula.
The other candidates from different parties for Mayoral posts are Manoj Aggarwal (INLD), Rajesh Kumar (AAP) and two independent candidates, namely Chandan Singh and Karnail Singh.
The Big question is that even if BJP party wins municipal Corporation elections, will the issues regarding Sanitation, damaged roads , water logging, poor drainage system and burning issue of dumping ground and maintenance of Parks in Panchkula be ever resolved?
During last elections the issues for elections were the same.
Over to voters for using the right to vote in the coming elections of Municipal Corporation Elections Panchkula.
Sudha Bhardwaj Congress, Sham Lal Bansal BJP, Manoj Aggarwal INALD
