Foundation Day of Sikkim, Goa and Telangana Celebrated at Punjab Lok Bhavan

Punjab Lok Bhavan turned into a vibrant tapestry of India’s rich cultural diversity as it hosted the Foundation Day celebrations of Sikkim, Goa and Telangana under the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat”. The occasion reflected India’s rich heritage, unity and cultural diversity.
The event was graced by the Governor of Punjab and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh,Gulab Chand Kataria, as the Chief Guest.
The programme showcased the rich cultural heritage and diversity of the three states through colourful cultural performances and presentations by the Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi, reflecting their traditions, music and folk culture.
Addressing the gathering, Kataria extended warm greetings to the people of Sikkim, Goa and Telangana on their Foundation Days. He said that India’s strength lies in its unity in diversity and that such programmes provide an opportunity to understand and appreciate the cultures and traditions of different states.
The Governor said that the celebration of the Statehood Days of Sikkim, Goa and Telangana under the “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” initiative reflects the spirit of India’s unity in diversity. He observed that while these states are distinct in their geography, language, culture and traditions, they are united by a shared national identity and commitment to nation-building. He emphasized that such programmes strengthen the bonds of national integration by fostering greater understanding and appreciation of the country’s rich cultural heritage.
Calling upon the youth to learn about and respect India’s diverse cultures, Kataria urged them to contribute actively towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and to further strengthen national unity, harmony and mutual understanding.
The celebrations reaffirmed the message that India’s strength lies in its diversity and that the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” continues to strengthen the bonds of national integration.
Also present on the occasion were Satya Pal Jain, Additional Solicitor General of India; Swapnil M. Naik, IAS, Secretary Hospitality, Chandigarh Administration; representatives of the states of Sikkim, Goa and Telangana; senior officers and other distinguished guests.
