The Voice of Chandigarh
Director School Education, UT Chandigarh, Nitish Singla chaired a review meeting regarding the implementation of the SMIS Fee Portal and measures being undertaken to facilitate parents in Government Schools.
During the meeting, the Director directed all Government Schools to establish dedicated SMIS Helpdesks to assist parents with fee payment, registration, re-verification and other portal-related queries. Parents requiring assistance may visit their respective schools, where designated staff will provide the necessary guidance and support.
Nitish Singla informed that the re-verification process has been streamlined to ensure timely and hassle-free resolution of requests. He further stated that the SMIS fee payment link, along with important instructions and notifications, is available on the official website of the Education Department.
Addressing concerns regarding fee payments, the Director clarified that Government Schools do not have any late fee policy and parents need not worry about late fee charges. He emphasized that parents have complete flexibility in fee payment and may deposit fees monthly, quarterly, annually or for any number of months according to their convenience.
The Director also reiterated that no fee is charged from students studying from Pre-Primary to Class VIII in Government Schools.
The meeting also discussed long-term improvements in the digital ecosystem. Efforts are being made to integrate fee-related services with the Sampark platform in the future to make the process more seamless and user-friendly. Such integration is expected to minimize technical issues and enable teachers to devote more time to academic and educational activities.
Nitish Singla reaffirmed the Education Department’s commitment to ensuring transparent, efficient and citizen-friendly services while safeguarding the interests and convenience of students, parents and schools.
