Vigilance Cell Chandigarh Apprehends Outsourced CPWD Clerk While Accepting Bribe

The Vigilance Cell, Chandigarh apprehended Gaurav, working as an outsourced clerk in CPWD, CP Division No. 2, Chandigarh, while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹30,000 for processing the pension and other financial benefits of the complainant’s father.
Based on the complaint, FIR No. 01 dated 08.07.2026 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered at Police Station Vigilance, Chandigarh.
Acting on the complaint, the Vigilance Cell laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while allegedly accepting the bribe amount of ₹30,000 behind the Old UT Secretariat Building, Sector 9, Chandigarh, in the presence of two independent witnesses.
Further investigation in the case is in progress.
