Ravneet Singh Bittu Resigns from Modi Government; Likely to Contest Punjab Assembly Elections

New Delhi: In a significant political development, President Droupadi Murmu has accepted the resignation of Ravneet Singh Bittu from the Union Council of Ministers with immediate effect. Bittu was serving as the Minister of State for Railways and Minister of State for Food Processing Industries in the Narendra Modi-led government.

Bittu was appointed as a Union Minister of State in June 2024 after the formation of the third Narendra Modi government. A prominent BJP leader from Punjab, he has been one of the party’s key faces in the state.

His resignation has triggered speculation that the BJP may be preparing to give him a bigger organisational and electoral role ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections.
