TAAI Turns 75, Unveils New Secretariat in Mumbai in a Celebration of Legacy, Pride and a New Beginning

It was a day filled with nostalgia, immense pride, emotion and celebration as members of the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), TAAI’s Managing Committee and Chairpersons from across India, Past Presidents and the Leaders of the Travel, Tourism and Hospitality industry gathered to inaugurate TAAI’s new office to house TAAI’s Secretariat in Mumbai.

The inauguration of the new Secretariat premises, comes at a particularly significant moment in TAAI’s history, as the Association celebrates 75 years of service, leadership and contribution to India’s Travel, Tourism and Hospitality industry.

75 Years of TAAI – A Legacy of Excellence.
A Future of Endless Possibilities.
Inaugurated on 11th August 2026
The historic occasion, held on 11 August 2026, marked another significant milestone in TAAI’s 75-year journey of excellence.
Located in an excellent and highly accessible complex close to Terminal 2 of Mumbai International Airport, the new TAAI Secretariat offers approximately 1,100 sq. ft. of carpet area, with plush and contemporary interiors designed to meet the evolving needs of the Association.
The new premises feature a specially designed Conference Room for Managing Committee Meetings, cabins for officers and staff, and thoughtfully planned spaces that provide greater convenience and functionality for members and visitors.
A Walk Through TAAI’s History
One of the most moving moments of the inauguration was the participation of TAAI’s Past Presidents, who joined TAAI President Sunil Kumar R in formally declaring the new Secretariat open.

Past Presidents Mr. Mahendra K. Sanghi (1980–1982), Mr. Cyrus Guzder (1984–1985), Mr. Ashwini Kakkar (2005–2006) and Mr. Iqbal Mulla performed the honours of cutting the ribbons and lighting the traditional lamp, one after another.
As each Past President spoke, the occasion moved beyond the inauguration of a new office. Their words reflected memories of TAAI’s journey, personal associations with the institution and a deep sense of pride at witnessing the Association enter this new chapter.
For those who had contributed to TAAI at different points in its history, the new Secretariat represented more than a new address.
It was a reflection of how far TAAI has travelled, and a symbol of the journey that lies ahead. A Milestone Dedicated to Every TAAI Member.
Speaking on the occasion, TAAI President Sunil Kumar R described the new Secretariat as an important institutional accomplishment created as part of TAAI’s 75 Years of Excellence celebrations.
He dedicated the achievement to every member of TAAI, acknowledging that the members remain the Association’s greatest source of strength.
He expressed his appreciation to the Managing Committee and the Chairpersons of TAAI’s Regions and Chapters for their continued support and made a special mention of the leadership and members of TAAI Western Region for their contribution towards the memorable occasion.
The new Secretariat is envisioned not merely as an office, but as a permanent institutional space that reflects the growth, stature and future aspirations of TAAI.
Industry Comes Together
The inauguration witnessed the presence of a large gathering of industry leaders representing airlines, hotels, technology companies and other segments of the Travel, Tourism and Hospitality industry, along with TAAI members and well-wishers.
The occasion also received significant attention from the media, with a large number of media representatives attending the event and covering the historic opening of the new premises.
An Evening of Celebration from TAAI Western Region that followed
The celebrations continued later in the evening, when TAAI Western Region hosted a large Industry Get-Together to commemorate TAAI’s 75 Years of Excellence and celebrate the opening of the new Secretariat.
Those who contributed significantly to the growth and development of TAAI were honoured, including Past Presidents, Past Chairpersons, and Past Members of the Managing Committee of the Western Region, in recognition of their invaluable leadership and contribution to TAAI’s enduring legacy.
A series of TAAI videos, including a special video created for TAAI’s 75th Year and the inauguration of the new Secretariat, were screened on the occasion.
The evening brought together generations of the travel industry, current TAAI Leadership, Members, Industry partners and leaders, creating an atmosphere of great celebration.
The gathering witnessed the screening of several specially created videos showcasing TAAI’s extraordinary journey, achievements and its vision for the future.
