A Cricket Match organized by Chandigarh Police in collaboration with Chandigarh Press Club at the ground of Police Lines

A Cricket Match was organized by Chandigarh Police in collaboration with Chandigarh Press Club at the ground of Police Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh. Dharampal, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh graced the occasion by participating in the cricket match beyond his precious time.
Parveer Ranjan, IPS, Director General of Police led the police team, while Kamleshar Singh captained the Press Club team. In this cricket match all the top rank officers took everyone by surprise by their bowling and batting performance. A great match was played between Chandigarh Police and Press Club in which all the top rank officers of Chandigarh Police participated including IGP/UT Omvir Singh Bishnoi, SSP UT Kuldeep Singh Chahal, SSP Traffic Manisha Chaudhary, SP/HQrs Manoj Kumar Meena, SP/City Ketan Bansal along with DSPs and other team players. ASP Shruti Arora and DSP Palak Goyal represented the women power in this cricket match and participated in every corner with bowling batting and fielding. Nalin Acharya, President, Press Club along with his team was also present.
Winning the toss, the Chandigarh Police team opted to bowl first against which Press Club made 160 runs in stipulated 15 overs with their batting. The Chandigarh Police team chased the target with good sports spirit and made 160 runs in 15 overs which resulted in a tied match. Dharampal, IAS, Adviser from Chandigarh Police team was declared man of the match (Man of the Day) for his great contribution to the team with batting, where as SGaurav from Press Club also declared best batsman of the match. The match was played in good sports spirit by the both teams.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Parveer Ranjan, IPS, DGP, Chandigarh appreciated the both team players for their best participation in this sports activity along with their professionalism. He said such physical activity can revive the sports spirit and in future more sports activities will be organized. Dharampal, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator also boosts the morale of all the participants in this match.
Besides this, DGP/UT also gave his presence at a Shooting Volleyball Tournament which was also organized at Volley Ball ground of Police Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh by Chandigarh Police Shooting Volley Ball Club in the memory of their former players on 12 & 13 march 2022. DGP/UT encouraged all the players and boosted their morale for participation in such sports activities.
A press meet was also organized by Chandigarh Press Club today, in which Parveer Ranjan IPS, DGP/UT, Omvir Singh Bishnoi, IPS, IGP/UT, Kuldeep Singh Chahal, IPS, SSP/UT interacted with the media persons at Chandigarh Press Club. DGP/UT shared the history, present liability & responsibility, accountability, challenges along with achievements of Chandigarh Police. Discussing the old times, DGP/UT told that Chandigarh Police has very proud history.
The assassination of S. Beant Singh was the biggest challenge during terrorism times but Chandigarh Police solved it very well. And from that time onwards Chandigarh Police has been raised up to the manpower of 7000. Currently, Chandigarh is having 17 police stations under 5 subdivisions of Chandigarh Police. Lots of the challenges were faced by Chandigarh Police in the recent like Covid-19, farmer agitation, election times etc., but Chandigarh Police did commendable job in every sphere with the cooperation of the public as well as media. We are trying to make overall development of Chandigarh Police as per the coming days and becoming Chandigarh Police more responsible & accountable. Now, Chandigarh Police has two priorities i.e. 1) Transparency in working and 2) becoming more responsive and Accountable.
DGP UT, shared that Chandigarh Police has also got first place in implementation of Integrated Criminal Justice System launched by the Govt. of India. Chandigarh Police is also going to implement Integrated Complaint System in all police stations by which we can capture online complaint, its progress and having feedback mechanism. The first E-Police Station was also declared in Chandigarh Police in which we are giving online FIR facility to the people. In this facility, FIR can be registered online in all types of theft incidents. We are also working on project to tackle the Cyber Crime and which will help in cyber crime investigation. On the other hand, under the Cyber Swachtta Mission, the Cyber Internship Programme was also launched in which the students of various colleges/institutes have taken part in this programme as Cyber Volunteers to inculcate CyberHygiene and spread cyber awareness among general public. On the side of welfare of Chandigarh Police, the promotions have been given to the police officials to boost up their morale. New houses for the allotments have been built at CAP, Dhanas, Chandigarh which will be soon allotted to them. The cashless medical facility will be provided to the Police officials.
