ADTOI Urges Hotels and Resorts to Support Travellers Affected by Massive IndiGo Flight Cancellations

The Voice of Chandigarh News

The Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India (ADTOI) calls upon hotels, resorts, and accommodation partners across the country to extend urgent support to travellers impacted by the ongoing wave of IndiGo flight cancellations that has severely disrupted domestic travel.

Over the past several days, the unprecedented scale of cancellations has resulted in thousands of passengers being stranded, rerouted, or forced to postpone their travel plans. Tour operators have been working round-the-clock to assist affected clients, manage last-minute changes, and minimise financial losses. However, rigid refund and amendment policies from some accommodation providers are adding to the distress of both travellers and tour operators.

ADTOI requests all hotels and resorts to:

1. Provide full refunds or flexible credit vouchers for bookings affected directly due to flight cancellations, without imposing penalties.

2. Allow date changes at no additional cost, considering the circumstances are beyond the control of travellers and operators

3. Cooperate closely with tour operators to ensure a smooth re-accommodation process and prevent undue financial burden on customers.

ADTOI President, Ved Khanna stated,

“The current situation is an extraordinary crisis for the travel sector. At a time when passengers and tour operators are already struggling with uncertainty, hotels and resorts must demonstrate empathy and fairness. We urge all partners to support travellers with flexible refund and rescheduling options, just as the industry united during the pandemic. This collaborative approach will strengthen the trust that holds our tourism ecosystem together.”

ADTOI reiterates that the cancellations are unforeseeable and entirely outside the control of tour operators and travellers. Enforcing strict cancellation charges in such conditions contradicts the spirit of responsible and customer-centric tourism.

We urge all stakeholders to work in solidarity to safeguard consumer interest and uphold India’s reputation as a hospitable and traveller-friendly destination.
