Advisor to Administrator Nitin Yadav reviews Progress of Aadhaar Activities in Chandigarh UT

The Voice of Chandigarh : Nitin Yadav, Advisor to Administrator, UT Chandigarh, while chairing the annual meeting of UID Implementation Committee (UIDIC),directed all the Registrars associated with UIDAI, to expand their facilities for Aadhaar enrollment/updation, give priority to the Mandatory Biometric Update of the children who have attained the age of 5 and 15 and also to create awareness among residents to update their Aadhaar if they have not done so during the last 10 years. The meeting was attended by Bhawna Garg, Deputy Director General and Jagdish Kumar, Director from UIDAI, Regional Office Chandigarh and the senior officers from UT Administration including Dr. Vijay Namdeorao Zade Finance Secretary, Ajay Chagti Health Secretary, Hargunjit Kaur Special Secretary (Finance), Vinay Pratap Singh Deputy Commissioner, Nitish Singla SDM East, among others.
The committee has been constituted as per the guidelines of UIDAI to oversee the progress of Aadhaar in each State/UT of the country. While reviewing the progress, the Chairperson directed the concerned departments to create awareness about the recent initiatives taken by the UIDAIto strengthen Aadhaar by updating latest Proof of Identity (POI) and Proof of Address (POA) documents. The feature is accessible online through ‘my Aadhaar’ portal or at all Aadhaar enrollment centers. Residents have to pay only Rs 50 for updating the Aadhaar at enrolment centers. However, for online updation, the fee has been waived off till 14th March,2024.
Bhawna Garg, Deputy Director General UIDAI, recommended that residents need to update their email id in Aadhaar so that they get updates regarding usage of Aadhaar. This not only prevents the misuse of Aadhaar but also creates a record of usage of Aadhaar. She also appealed to parents to get their children enrolled for Aadhaar if they have not enrolled yet. She further added that biometrics of children who have attained the age of 5 and 15 years respectively should be updated at nearby Aadhaar Enrolment Centers.
In addition, the Advisor directed the officers of the District Administration to prepare a detailed field verification report for Aadhaar Enrolment of 18+ population so that no resident is deprived of Aadhaar enrolment without valid reasons.
