
Air India Announces ₹25 Lakh Interim Compensation for Victims of Flight AI171 Crash
The Voice of Chandigarh: In a heartfelt gesture following the tragic crash of Air India Flight AI171, the airline has announced an interim compensation of ₹25 lakh (approximately £21,000) each to the families of the deceased and to the sole survivor of the accident.

Expressing its profound sorrow, Air India stated that it stands in unwavering solidarity with the bereaved families. “Our teams on the ground are doing everything possible to extend care and support during this incredibly difficult time,” the airline noted in an official statement.
This interim assistance is aimed at helping the families cope with immediate financial needs and comes in addition to the ₹1 crore (approximately £85,000) support already announced by Tata Sons, the parent company of Air India.
“All of us at Air India are deeply saddened by this loss. We mourn with the families, loved ones, and everyone affected,” the statement added.

The ill-fated AI171 flight, which was en route from Ahmedabad to London, met with a tragic accident shortly after takeoff, resulting in the loss of 241 lives out of the 242 onboard. Investigations into the incident are currently underway.
