Air India Conducts DGCA-Mandated Safety Checks on Boeing 787 Fleet; Passengers Advised to Monitor Flight Status

The Voice of Chandigarh News:

New Delhi, June 14, 2025 – Air India has initiated a one-time safety inspection of its Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet, in compliance with directives issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), India’s aviation regulator.

These safety checks are being conducted as each aircraft returns to India, prior to being cleared for further operations. So far, Air India has successfully completed inspections on nine aircraft, with plans firmly in place to finish checks on the remaining 24 Boeing 787s within the regulator’s stipulated timeline.

While every effort is being made to minimize passenger inconvenience, certain long-haul routes—particularly those operating to airports with curfew restrictions—may experience longer turnaround times and potential delays due to the ongoing inspections.

Passenger Information:

  • Customers will be informed in advance about any flight delays or disruptions.
  • Passengers are strongly advised to check the status of their flights before heading to the airport via the official Air India portal: airindia.com/in/en/manage/flight-status.html.
  • For those affected, free rescheduling or full refunds are being offered as part of Air India’s customer support measures.

Air India reaffirms its commitment to upholding the highest safety standards while ensuring transparency and timely communication with passengers during this process.
