BAR COUNCIL OF PUNJAB AND HARYANA ISSUES NOTICE

Vide order dated 27.04.2023 the Bar Council of Punjab & Haryana through its Secretary issued notice to the effect that under Rule 45 of the Bar Council of Punjab & Haryana Rules framed under the Advocates Act which have been approved by the Bar Council of India to fill up the casual vacancy which occurred due to elevation of Harpreet Singh Brar as Additional Judge of Punjab & Haryana High Court and due to his voluntarily suspending the license, a notice was issued to fill up the vacancy to all concerned as per Rule 46 and accordingly nominations were called for 08.05.2023 from 11:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
On 08.05.2023, the Secretary of the Bar Council received 4 nomination papers from Harpreet Singh, Advocate Enrolment No. P/2320/2011 for the casual vacancy as member of the Bar Council. There was no other nomination received till the expiry of the time i.e. 4:00 P.M. Accordingly the Secretary of the Bar Council after accepting the nomination papers duly supported by a draft of Rs. 30,000/- ordered to put up the said nomination papers before the undersigned for scrutiny.
On 09.05.2023, undersigned checked all the nomination form submitted by Harpreet Singh, Advocate and found to be correct as per enrolment records of all.
As per notice today i.e. 10.05.2023 (Wednesday) the date and time for withdrawal of candidature was fixed from 11:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
Till 4:00 P.M., the nominations papers were not withdrawn by Harpreet Singh, Advocate accordingly as per Rule 46 (e) It is hereby declared Harpreet Singh, Advocate enrolment No. P/2320/2011 to be duly elected member of the Bar Council of Punjab & Haryana in this manner the casual vacancy has been filled up.
Necessary notification be issued and be sent to all concerned.
