BDHC Chandigarh team was led by a female colleague as Captain
The Voice of Chandigarh: In a spirited display of diversity and inclusion, the British Deputy High Commission (BDHC) Chandigarh cricket team recently played an exhibition match against DAV College Alumni at a cricket stadium in Panchkula, Haryana. The match, organised by the UT Cricket Association (UTCA), carried a powerful social message advocating the fight against drugs through the medium of sports.
Demonstrating a commitment to gender equality, the BDHC Chandigarh team was led by a female colleague, while a colleague from the Transport and Administration department, was named Vice-Captain. Team members from all sections of the High Commission participated in the match, which was played under floodlights, showcasing a strong sense of unity and team spirit, despite many playing professional cricket for the first time.
The match saw enthusiastic support from the families of the staff, who came out in large numbers to witness the event. Deputy Head of Mission, Aman Grewal, who also participated in the match, expressed gratitude to the organisers for this wonderful initiative. Grewal assured that the BDHC Chandigarh would continue to support such noble causes in the future.
