Chandigarh Administration Honors 21 Individuals on Republic Day

The Chandigarh administration honored 21 individuals with Republic Day commendation certificates on January 26, 2025. These individuals were recognized for their outstanding contributions in various fields, including medicine, education, sports, and social service.

1. Dr. Sanjay Gupta
Mr. Sanjay started his services in GMCH in 2002. Currently, he is working as a professor in the surgery department. Along with getting recognition in international and national journals, he is also a member of the board of directors of the ‘World Society of Emergency Surgery’. He is being honored today on the occasion of Republic Day.
2. Dr. Jitendra Kumar Sahu
Dr. Jitendra Kumar Sahu has provided unique services in the field of research and pediatrics. For which he was honored with the ‘National Science Award’, the highest national award given in the field of science by Mrs. Draupadi Murmuru at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. He is being honored today on the auspicious occasion of Republic Day.
3. Mr. Satish Sharma
Mr. Satish Sharma started his services in the orthopedics department at GMCH Sector 32, Chandigarh. Holding the post of Chief Physiotherapist, Mr. Satish ji has shown dedication to work, tireless hard work and sympathetic behavior. Today, on the occasion of Republic Day, he is honored with a certificate by the Administrator.
4. Late Mr. Ravindra Singh
Late Mr. Ravindra Singh started his services in the State Transport UT of Chandigarh in 2003. During his tenure, he has set an example of efficiency and tireless hard work. Unfortunately, on 10 September 2024, while on duty, he was hit by an e-rickshaw coming at high speed. He died during treatment at PGI. Today, his wife Mrs. Kamaljit Kaur is being honored posthumously.
5. Mrs. Jyotsna
Mrs. Jyotsna is working as a TGT in GMSSS 20 D. After receiving training at the international level, she has trained more than 1000 teachers under CBSE CBE. Mrs. Jyotsna has also received a gold medal in Judo and is now training the students of her school as well. Today, she is being honored on the occasion of Republic Day.
6. Rishi Raj Tomar
Rishi Rai Tomar, a Fine Arts teacher at Government High School, Sector 52, is a famous name in the field of Fine Arts. He has received many awards in India and abroad. His works have also been appreciated in Japan, Thailand, Italy, Poland, Turkey, Bangladesh etc. Rishi ji, who has received many gold medals and awards, is being honored today by the Hon’ble Administrator.
7. Mr. Pawan Kumar Sharma
Mr. Pawan Kumar Sharma ji, who has been serving in various departments of Chandigarh Administration since July 1986 and is currently working as Superintendent Grade-2, is being honored today by the Administrator with a citation for his special services.
8. Mr. Pawan Kapoor
Tennis player Pawan Kapoor is posted as Sports Officer in CITCO, Chandigarh. He is currently handling the charge of refreshments at Bird Park, UT Secretariat and Rock Garden etc. He is being honored today by the Administrator with a citation for his special services.
9. Mr. Nirmal Singh
Mr. Nirmal Singh is serving as Supervisor Technician Grade-1 in Executive Engineer C.P. Division 2. Under his supervision, the construction of Madhya Marg, Dakshin Marg, Himalaya Marg, Sarovar Path and Uttar Marg cycle tracks was done well. Apart from this, he has also made an incomparable contribution in the maintenance of parking, roads, parade ground etc. of various departments. Today, he is honored by the Administrator with a citation for his dedication and commitment.
10. Mr. Kuldeep Singh
Mr. Kuldeep Singh, working in the Transport Undertaking of Chandigarh since 1990, is currently posted as Inspector. Today, he is being honored by the Administrator with a citation for his leadership ability, special work system, excellent services in many areas like monitoring of buses, traffic management etc.
11. Mr. Surinder Singh
He is serving as a clerk in the Deputy Commissioner, UT, Chandigarh since 1994. In the year 2012, he was promoted as Senior Assistant. For their excellent services, they are being honored by the Administrator today on the occasion of Republic Day.
12. Mrs. Sonia
Since the year 2022, she has been working as a Senior Assistant in the Coordination Branch. She has been exemplary for the department by giving her commendable services during the visit of the Honorable Prime Minister and Home Minister. Today, she is being honored by the Administrator for her commendable services.
13. Mr. Rajbir Singh
He is working as a driver in Chandigarh Transport. Due to his hard work, honesty, punctuality, discipline and good behavior, he is being honored with a certificate on Republic Day today.
14. Mr. John David
He has been working as a gardener in Horticulture Division No. 2, Chandigarh for 30 years. He is being honored with a certificate by the Administrator due to his hard work, strong dedication, responsibility and dedication towards work, good behavior and honesty.
15. Mr. Munna
He has been working as a sweeper in Sector 16 for 19 years. Due to their loyalty, dedication, honesty, friendly behavior etc. towards their work, they are honored by the administrator on Republic Day.
16. Ms. Baban Preet Kaur
She has also hoisted her flag in the field of sports. She has brought laurels to the country by winning many medals in athletics at national and international level. Today she is honored by the administrator for her outstanding contribution in sports.
17. Mr. Krish Paul
He is studying in Shri Guru Gobind Singh Senior Secondary School Sector 35 Chandigarh. He has brought laurels to himself and his school and city in the field of sports. Today she is honored by the administrator for her outstanding contribution in sports.
18. Ms. Priyanshi Arora
Currently she is a student of class XII in Government Senior Secondary School Sector 10. This student of extraordinary talent has left her mark at national and international level in fencing game. Today she is honored by the administrator for her outstanding contribution in sports.
19. Mr. Anil Vohra
He is considered a well-known personality in the field of social service. He has shown his unique service spirit even in Covid-19. He also promotes various types of awareness in the city. Due to this spirit of his, today he is honored by the administrator.
20. Mr. Rachit Jain
He has represented Chandigarh in the National Youth Festival 2024. He has organized many social activities with the cooperation of various departments of Chandigarh. He has also been honored by many prestigious institutions for his social spirit. Today he is honored by the administrator
21. Mr. Aarush Jain
At the age of just 12, he has been honored with more than 200 citations and medals, endowed with unique talent. At the age of just 6, his name has been recorded in the ‘India Book of Records’. Today he is honored by the administrator on the basis of his extraordinary talent.
