The Voice of Chandigarh News:

A meeting was convened at The Secretariat, U.T. Chandigarh, under the chairmanship of Nishant Kumar Yadav, IAS, Deputy Commissioner-cum-Secretary Industries, Chandigarh Administration. The meeting was attended by Nodal Officers of 13 stakeholder departments to review the implementation status of the reform action points under the Business Reform Action Plan (BRAP) 2024 in the Union Territory of Chandigarh.

The BRAP 2024, spearheaded by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), New Delhi, aims to further enhance the ‘Make in India’ initiative by establishing a seamless business regulatory framework across the country, including U.T. Chandigarh. The plan is designed to significantly improve the ease of doing business by streamlining procedures, reducing approval times, and integrating online service delivery. Key initiatives such as the National Single Window System and PM Gati Shakti are also integral to this effort, helping to create a more transparent, efficient, and dynamic regulatory environment.

The BRAP 2024 encompasses a total of 343 reform action points that cover various critical sectors such as Labour, Environment, Taxes, Land Administration, Utility Permits, Inspection, and Construction. These reforms are aimed at ensuring faster and more efficient Government-to-Business service delivery across U.T. Chandigarh.

Nishant Kumar Yadav emphasized the importance of timely implementation and directed all stakeholder departments to complete the implementation of their respective reform points by 1st February 2025. This target is set well in advance of the national deadline of 15th February 2025, ensuring that U.T. Chandigarh submits its progress to DPIIT on time.

As of today, evidence of 133 reform action points have already been successfully submitted on DPIIT’s portal, with 109 reforms completed, however respective departments are to submit evidences of implementation of respective reform action points. The respective departments are diligently working to complete the remaining 100 reform action points, which are currently under progress. All departments are committed to fulfilling the requirements within the stipulated timeline.

The Deputy Commissioner-cum-Secretary Industries also stated that another review meeting will be held soon to assess the progress made by the different departments under BRAP 2024.

The Chandigarh Administration, in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and all relevant stakeholder departments, remains focused on ensuring the successful implementation of BRAP 2024, with the goal of enhancing the ease of doing business and fostering a conducive environment for industrial growth in the region.
