Chandigarh Administrator’s Advisory Council Forms Standing Committees for Governance Excellence
The Voice of Chandigarh:
In a significant development aimed at enhancing participative governance, the Chandigarh Administrator’s Advisory Council has constituted several Standing Committees to address key sectors of public administration and urban development.
These committees will act as consultative platforms, offering expert advice and citizen input on matters concerning education, health, urban planning, environment, infrastructure, social welfare, and law & order, among others.
The Administrator of Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria, emphasized the need for inclusive decision-making and stated that these committees would strengthen transparency and accountability in the governance of the Union Territory.
Each committee will include representatives from civil society, subject matter experts, senior bureaucrats, and nominated public figures. The objective is to ensure that development policies are not only efficient but also socially responsive and community-driven.

The move has been welcomed by residents and policy analysts alike, who see it as a step forward in fostering cooperative governance and citizen engagement in Chandigarh’s administration.
