The Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee today flagged off 50,000 signatures collected from the residents of Chandigarh as part of the nationwide “Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod” signature campaign launched by the Indian National Congress. The campaign, which aims to gather over 5 crore signatures across the country, seeks to hold the BJP and the Modi government accountable for repeated assaults on democracy, misuse of constitutional institutions, and manipulation of the electoral process.

A large gathering of party leaders, workers, and supporters assembled at Rajiv Gandhi Congress Bhawan, Sector 35, where Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee President H.S. Lucky formally dispatched the signed petitions. The campaign has witnessed overwhelming participation from citizens, as party workers and leaders went door-to-door across the city to collect signatures—reflecting widespread public discontent over the erosion of democratic values and institutions under the BJP regime.

Speaking on the occasion, H.S. Lucky launched a strong attack on the BJP and the Modi government, accusing them of gross misuse of constitutional bodies, particularly the Election Commission of India, for political gain.

He said, “The neutrality and credibility of the Election Commission are under serious question after the recent exposé by Rahul Gandhi. The Election Commission, which should be the guardian of free and fair elections, has unfortunately allowed itself to be used as a political tool by the ruling BJP.”

He further stated that the Congress Party will continue its nationwide movement to restore faith in democratic institutions and expose the unconstitutional and unethical conduct of the BJP-led central government. “Through this historic signature campaign, the Congress is amplifying the voice of the people who have lost trust in a system hijacked by the BJP for political advantage. We will not rest until accountability is restored,” Lucky added.

Senior leaders, office bearers, block presidents, and party cadres of the Chandigarh Congress were present in large numbers during the event. The Chandigarh Congress reaffirmed its commitment to stand with the people in defending democracy and upholding constitutional values.

The collected signatures from Chandigarh will be sent to the All India Congress Committee (AICC), which will compile the nationwide signatures and submit them to the President of India in the coming weeks. The submission will be accompanied by a massive public rally in Delhi scheduled for the last week of November, demanding accountability and the resignation of the BJP-led government for betraying the democratic trust of the nation.
